Ty and the Amazing Technicolor Eye

On Friday night, I went out with some friends to see a performance of the Nutcracker ballet, leaving Adam home with the boys.  I got home late, and had only been asleep a couple of hours when I awoke to the sound of Ty crying.  I went to his room to see what was the matter, only to find that he was lying in a puddle of vomit.  I woke up Adam, and we cleaned up the mess.  As I was changing the sheets, I glanced over at Ty, and was shocked to see that his eye was terribly bruised and almost swollen shut.  Apparently a few minutes after he put Ty to bed, Adam heard him crying in his room.  He went to see what was the matter, and Ty said he had bonked his head on the wall.  Not thinking too much of it, Adam told Ty to lay back down and go to sleep.  So, we are not totally sure what happened, but we are guessing he probably really smacked his eye on his headboard.  

The next morning I called my dad, who works in sports medicine, to ask if he thought the two incidents were related.  He said yes, they probably were, and that Ty likely had at least a mild concussion.  So yesterday we just took it really easy and hung out at home.  The injury has not seemed to slow Ty down in the least, but it's one of those things that is really scary for a mom!

Ty's eye is pretty colorful, but it's not nearly as swollen today as it has been.  We still got lots of questions at church, though!
