A Question

Question: What happens when you are remodeling your kitchen, your cabinet doors are in the garage to be painted, and you haven't moved the items on your lower shelves as far out of reach as you thought you had?

Answer: Your baby eats your baking soda, of course!

I am SO ready for this project to be done!

Work, work, all week long...

It's been over a week since I last posted, which for me, is a pretty long time. Instead of blogging, we have been doing this:

We have begun the process of remodeling the kitchen. We are painting, refinishing the cabinets, installing granite tile countertops, and putting in a tumbled travertine mosaic backsplash. Every nighttime and naptime this week has been spent working--and, boy is it a LOT of work! So far we have painted the kitchen and sanded and primed the cabinet doors. We still have a long way to go! When our project is complete in another month or so, I will post before and after pictures.

Play Time!

Since Adam had Monday off of work, we decided we wanted to do something really fun as a family. After much consideration, we decided on the Children's Museum. I have friends who don't think it's all that great, but we had a super fun time!

The fire truck was the boys' definite favorite spot in the museum.

Ty LOVED driving it! He kept shouting, "Look, I'm 16!" (Heaven help us all when he really is!)

He also loved the fire hose.

McKay mostly loved the "doggie".

The boys played at the grocery store, too. Ty went shopping...

...and Mac ran the register. So many buttons to push!

Then we checked out the bubble center. Ty loved being inside a bubble!

So while Ty made bubbles,

and dressed up like an ant,

...McKay had fun checking out the baby area

We had such a fun time! Wouldn't it be nice if Daddy had every Monday off?!

Let Freedom Ring

We had a packed, fun-filled Fourth (or, Third, rather, since Independence Day was on Sunday). We started off the day with a pancake breakfast at the Church. It was followed by a bike parade for the kids. Daddy helped Ty a little; he is still trying to figure out the pedaling!

Then there were water balloon activities

Later in the morning, Ty had his first ever swim lesson at the rec center. He was a bit apprehensive about going into the water with people he had never met before, but about ten minutes into the lesson, he finally decided to try it and did great after that!

Next we had a barbecue with some friends from the ward. Then we played at the park together, and got a rare family picture:

We finished off the night by watching our town's firework show. It was pretty awesome. McKay kept saying, "Oh, wow!" and Ty was exclaiming, "Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness!" They were probably the most enthusiastic kids there! :)

We were grateful to be able to spend the day as a family and with such fun friends!

Life Lately

The kids are growing and doing well. Ty is (knock on wood) growing out of that terrible twos stage. He is oh-so-sweet lately, full of kisses and hugs and snuggles. His tantrums are few and far between and that makes me one happy momma!
McKay is now affectionately known as "The Destroyer" or "The Destroying Angel" in our home. He follows Ty around everywhere lately, which I love and Ty doesn't. After Ty meticulously lines up all his race cars or builds a massive train track, Mac zooms in and wreaks havoc. And it is totally deliberate. He knows EXACTLY what he is doing. He is kind of a stinker but I still think he's adorable. He has learned to walk, and can take as many as a dozen steps in a row (enough to cross a room), but his preferred method of travel is still the crawl. He is just not a huge fan of walking yet. But what he lacks in motor he makes up for in mouth! He is saying everything! He has a far larger vocabulary than Ty had at this age, which is good and bad. Who taught my baby how to say "No!"?

Our only other news is that Adam got braces last week. He will have them for 1-1 1/2 years, with a major jaw surgery in January. So far he hasn't loved revisiting his adolescence :), but he is looking forward to having everything fixed!
Life is good and we are happy!
