I turned 25 on Saturday.  For my birthday, Adam decided to support me in my recent obsession to lose the extra baby weight, so he bought me exercise clothes, a yoga ball, jump rope, fitness wheel, and an exercise DVD.  No, I didn't take the gift the wrong way--it will be nice to be able to mix up my workouts instead of just running every day.  Adam also surprised me with a manicure and pedicure at the best nail boutique ever.  Then I went shopping (ALONE!) and chose out TWO new pairs of shoes!  As much as I love my little boys, it was heaven to have a couple of hours to myself!
After I was done, our great friends, Jeff and Kim, took the kids while we went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory.  I ate an entire piece of cheesecake; it was sinful and wonderful!  I guess I will just have to spend a little extra time with the new exercise stuff! :)  It was a great birthday!
Besides the birthday festivities, Adam had both Friday and Monday off of work for the holiday weekend.  It actually extended into a FIVE day weekend, because he is not feeling so well today, so he stayed home from work.  Of course it is not fun to be sick, but sick or not, I still like having him home!

The Gift of Life and Breath

Last Saturday, our family participated in The Gift of Life and Breath 5K.  It is done in honor of a man in our ward who passed away about a year and a half ago from lung cancer, and all the proceeds from the race go toward cancer research.  I have to say, I LOVE running in races.  This was the eighth 5K I have run in, but it has been a whole year since I last did one.  I finished the race in 32 minutes and 44 seconds, which is a TERRIBLE time (about 7 minutes slower than my best 5K time), but considering that I just had a baby a month ago, I am not going to complain.  I feel good to have finished it at all!

This is just before the race began.  I was fortunate enough to have Adam push the stroller the entire way.  By the way, this is the only picture we have ever taken of our whole family together.

This is a few minutes we finished the race, and yes, it is likely the single dorkiest picture of me ever taken.  At least Mel looks cute!!

What is it about races that makes people think it's ok to wear whatever you want?  I mean seriously.  These spandex were a throwback to 1982!  It's never kosher to see a grown man in spandex, but these were just way over the top!

Baby Mac

McKay was a month old as of Saturday.  Last week, my friend, Wylie, took some great photos of him.  I seriously LOVE them.  Here are a few of my very favorites:

Grandma+Grandpa=FUN!

I am WAY behind in my blogging life, mainly because of the demands on my time by my two small children! When I have a few minutes to myself, they are usually spent sleeping or frantically cleaning the house.  I have to say, though, that the last few weeks have been awesome!  The Sunday after McKay was born, Adam's parents drove out to visit from Utah.  It was so great to have them here--they were a HUGE help!  They took Ty to lots of fun places, which gave me time to rest in those first few days after I was home from the hospital.  It was perfect!

Does this look like Ty's kind of toy, or what?

I am kicking myself that we didn't get any pictures of McKay with his grandparents, or any of Grandpa at all.  Darn.
After Grandma and Grandpa Marchant left, I had a couple of days on my own with the kids, and then Adam took his paternity leave.  He has had the last two weeks off of work, which has been a dream!  I am not looking forward to him returning to work on Monday.  I guess we have to pay the bills somehow, though, right?
On another note, McKay was three weeks old as of yesterday, and he is starting to grow and fill out.  Look at that sweet chubby face!

2 Weeks Old!

McKay is two weeks old, and I can not believe how quickly the time has flown by! He is a GREAT baby. When Ty was this age, I remember all he wanted to do was eat. All McKay wants to do is sleep. If I can wake him up to eat for five minutes at a time, I am feeling successful! On the rare occasions that he is awake, he is generally content to sit in his seat and look around. He is so good! (I know my last post may have made it seem otherwise, but that was the worst night he has had so far. Usually he sleeps for 4-5 hour blocks at a time.)
Ty is doing SO well with the adjustment, too. He wants to help out all the time, and is constantly reminding us that we need to be soft with his brother. It is so cute! He has been
doing some seriously silly stuff lately, too. Yesterday we went on a morning jog, and this was his outfit:

Nice, huh? I will take the blame for his black jacket, brown sandals and pajama pants, but he was the one who insisted that he wear his sunglasses and backward hat.
And last but not least, I took this picture of Ty last night. He was up in his booster seat before dinner, and I had put some corn on the table as I was waiting for the main dish to finish cooking. I turned around to see him helping himself to the bowl of corn. At least it's healthy, right?
