First Date

About two weeks ago, Ty and I went on our first ever mommy and son date. My friend, Mel, won tickets to Disney on Ice, and generously offered them to us. I was beyond thrilled! The seats were fabulous, and we had a wonderful time. My first date with Adam was to Disney on Ice, so it's kind of special to us. As cheesy as it sounds, sitting there watching the same show with Ty that I saw first with Adam, I felt like we had really come full circle. I would NEVER have guessed on my first date with Adam that I would be there on my first date with our son five and a half-ish years later, but I am glad that it worked out like it did! And thanks SO MUCH, Mel! Ty totally loved it, and so did I!

And speaking of Ty, I have a crazy story. We were leaving the house yesterday and I hit the garage door button on our way out. Ty ran out to the garage door and grabbed onto the bottom with both hands as it was going up. It lifted him right off his feet, and he rode it almost all the way to the top! I about died! I ran out to him and caught him with my left arm (Mac was in my right) just as he fell. It scared me to death, but after it happened I couldn't stop laughing (privately, of course)! I only wish I had a picture, but we will most definitely NOT be reenacting that one!
Then last night he fell out of his bed and stayed asleep. Apparently riding garage doors is exhausting! ;)

Warm Weather

We have been LOVING the warm weather here the last few days. It has only served to whet my insatiable appetite for summertime! Too bad--we are supposed to get snow overnight tonight.
I can't say enough how fabulous it is to finally have a backyard! Don't look too closely; there is still much work to be done back there, but I don't think the two littlest Marchants care too much.

Mac crawled off the back porch into the grass and just lay there, not sure what it was.

And Ty has been putting my first-ever garage sale find (his slide) to good use.

Please, summer, come soon. We are ready for you.

Boys at the Zoo

I realized a few days ago that my annual zoo pass expires at the end of this month. I decided we needed to make one or two more visits, since I am pretty sure we won't be renewing it. So, since it was in the low 60's and gorgeous today, we made the trek up there. We were lucky enough to have some fun friends come with us, too.
Ty and his friend, Isaac, had a blast! They ran around everywhere and were such BOYS! In fact, as much as they loved the animals, they spent the longest time watching this:

Yep, it was a front loader dumping rocks into a pond. They were glued. We practically had to pry their fingers off the rocks to get them to go and look at some animals. On our next outing, we'll just have to take them to a construction site!
The only other two pictures I took today turned out like this:

I love how Isaac is scaling the rocks in one and Ty is in the other. They sure are masculine little fellows!
And, oops, I forgot to take any pictures of McKay. He was there, but you almost wouldn't know it. He sat in the stroller and didn't make a peep. My dream baby, as always, despite the fact that he missed his morning nap.

Garbage Day

Tuesday mornings are oh so exciting at our house. Ty absolutely loves watching the garbage truck as it comes through the neighborhood. And anything Ty does McKay thinks he needs to get in on, too.

Have I mentioned how much I love these two little turkeys?

More Funnies

Ty is always saying something hilarious. Here are a few of his recent funny comments:

We were driving in the car a couple of weeks ago listening to primary songs, as usual. The song He's Our Bishop came on and Ty comments, "I LOVE our bishop! He's such a good guy!"

Again, we were in the car, and we passed a Big 5 sports store. Ty said, "Look, Mommy--the sports store! That's my favorite! And it's daddy's favorite, too!"

A day or two ago, he came up to me holding his stomach. He said, "I have a tummy egg. Let's make it feel better." It took me just a minute to realize he meant a tummy ache! Ha, ha!

The two of us were playing basketball on his Little Tykes hoop. I shot and scored and yelled, "Whoo Hoo!! Mamacita!" Directly after that, Ty made a basket and yelled, "Whoo Hoo! Ty Guy-cita!"

Recently Ty was pulling on the dining room curtains, which he totally knows is against the rules. Adam loudly told him to stop. Since Adam almost never raises his voice, I think it shocked Ty and hurt his feelings a little. He came into the kitchen where I was washing the dishes, with a huge pout and eyes that looked like they might spill over any second. I asked him, "Did you get in trouble?" To which he replied in a shaky voice, "I sure did."

Oh, and P.S. For those of you who wanted to know how I made my shoes, there are very simple step-by-step instructions here.

A Moment Like This

It's moments like this that I realize how really great I've got it.

Yeah, life is good.
