Big Boy Bed

This week we have been transitioning Ty from his crib to a twin bed to make room for Baby Brother. Although we have a bassinet that we will probably use for the baby for a while, I wanted the crib to be vacant when I am ready for it. I wanted Ty to be already comfortable in a bed by the time the baby arrives, so that he does not feel like the baby is kicking him out of his bed. So far, the transition has gone fairly smoothly. Nighttime has been ok, but the problem we are encountering is him not going to sleep at naptime. Since it is light, he has gotten up out of his bed to play in his room. It is frustrating, but I feel confident that within a few days, Ty will have it down. My baby is getting so big!
In fact, Ty has been growing up tons in the last couple of months. Here are some of the things he can do at 21 months:

-Say the entire alphabet
-Recognize many of the letters by sight
-Count to 10 by himself
-Has a vocabulary of >250 words
-Knows LOTS of the primary songs
-Still obsessed with sports, especially basketball
-Loves to play outside
-Loves to read, and has many of his books memorized
-Is SO "helpful" around the house (helps unload the dishwasher, fold the laundry, make beds, dust, vacuum--you name it, he does it!)

I know that when Baby Brother makes his debut, Ty is going to seem like a giant. It makes me sad that he is no longer a baby, but I love watching him learn and grow. He amazes me daily!

Baaa! He looks so cute and excited to be in his new bed! I can't believe how big he is, and I still can't believe you're having babe no. 2. Are we getting old or what? Gosh. So I was in Mt. P. last week and guess what song I heard on the radio? How bizarre do do dooo do do dooo, how bizarre, how bizarre. Oh the memories.

That is so cute! I have been going back and forth on the big kid bed thing, but we still have a little while before a decision has to be made. Based on all his achievements he is doing really well. The alphabet is really impressive...he should have no problem in preschool/kindergarten.

We have yet to do the big bed transition. Ty will look so big when the baby comes. Kayla looks huge to me now. Her diapers, clothes, and everything else look huge.
