Castlewood Canyon

Adam returned home last night after spending the week in California for work.  We decided since the kids hadn't had time with him in a long while, we would forgo our usual weekend date in favor of doing an activity with the whole family.  We ended up down at Castlewood Canyon, a state park only 20 minutes from our home.  We packed a picnic dinner and enjoyed spending the evening there together.  I could not believe that we have lived in Parker for 4 years and had never been there before.  It was beautiful!  There are lots of super easy hikes that are ideal for families with little kids.

Ty insisted that he pose with his drink for this picture.

My faves!

She thought she was pretty hot stuff riding up on Daddy's shoulders!

There was also a little playground right by where we ate dinner.  The boys loved climbing on this rock formation there!

It was the perfect way to spend our evening together.

And here's a photo I took earlier today of Annie.  I swear she's 14 months going on 14 years!

Say WHAT?!

I haven't been much of a blogger lately, but a certain conversation between my two boys was just screaming to be posted!  Backyard baseball has been a common summer occurance around here, with each boy making up his own team name.  Lately, they have been getting more and more creative with their team names, with titles such as "Colorado Crushers," "Parker Lightning," and "The Racecars."  Yesterday Ty and McKay were playing baseball together in the backyard again, and I overheard this:

McKay:  "Today my team is going to be the Colorado Strippers."
Me:  "WHAT?!?!
McKay:  "Yeah, it is.  It really is.  That's a good team."
Me:  "No, I don't think that's a very good team name.  Maybe something else?"  (I put forth several suggestions.)
McKay:  "Nope.  Colorado Strippers.  That's the one.  Write it, Ty."
Ty:  (Making a paper scorboard)  "Mom, I'm going to write it.  McKay gets to choose his own team name, and he wants to be the Colorado Strippers, so I'm going to write it.  How do you spell 'strippers?'"
Me:  "Wait, guys, seriously, you can't be the Strippers.  I promise you, it's NOT a good team name!"
McKay, exasperated:  "Yes it is!"
Me;  "Do you guys know what a stripper is?  It's someone who takes their clothes off in front of others."
Ty:  "Well that doesn't sound very modest at all!  McKay, let's think of a new name."
McKay:  "But I like the strippers!  Well, ok, I guess I can be the Colorado Thunders."

I am SO not sure where he came up with that one, but I was DYING!!
