The Hammer Throw

I escaped to Utah this week. We found a ridiculously cheap airplane ticket, and I decided to take a break from single parenting! So far, it has been really fun. My family is crazy. C-R-A-Z-Y. We all get exponentially crazier when we are together. This is especially true of my sister and I. Today we were just hanging out at my parents' house, and my sister proposed that we throw a hammer at an ancient computer monitor that was in my parents' basement. This is something that I never would have done on my own, but with my sister, it somehow seemed like a great idea! Ashleigh, Zach, and I all got a few decent shots in, but it was my brother, Zach, who finally shattered the screen. Has anyone else ever wanted to do this? It was a blast!!

Happy Birthday, Adam!

Today Adam is 28.  I wish I could say that he has had a fabulous birthday and that we have been able to celebrate, but it's busy season, people, remember?!  Unfortunately, his birthday is at the exact wrong time of the year for the profession he has chosen.  Fortunately, we did get to see him today!  He was able to come home and eat lunch with us, and Ty was in absolute heaven. We'll take what we can get right now.  We are going to go out to dinner tomorrow night and really celebrate then.  But even though we aren't partying today, I couldn't let this day pass without wishing a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the best husband and daddy ever!

Happy Hearts Day

It is a Saturday AND a holiday, and Adam is at work.  Does anyone else see anything wrong with this picture?  I am so grateful that busy season is almost over.  Just a couple more weeks!
I love Valentine's Day.  For one, it is just about the only thing I have to look forward to during busy season : ), but more than that, it is so great to have a day to honor all the people I love.  I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful family, as well as superb in-laws.  It is so fabulous that Ty has not one, but TWO sets of such amazing grandparents, as well as uncles, aunts and cousins.
Most of all, I am grateful for my dear husband, Adam, who works so hard and is so incredible in every way.  Most people would absolutely cave under all the pressure and responsibilities that my sweetheart deals with, but he does it uncomplainingly.  Sometimes I grumble about never seeing him, but I have not once this busy season heard him complain that he doesn't have time for himself.  That's just the kind of guy he is.  My mom always says that he is her standard for excellence in a man, and I couldn't agree more!!
I love my little Ty so much, too.  He is at the best age ever right now.  He is so sweet and lovable, and is already showing a sense of humor.  He is going to be a great big brother!  And yes, I even love this little wiggly worm inside of me that keeps me up at night and kicks much harder than his big brother ever did!  I love my boys!!
Happy Valentines Day, everyone!

We Do What We Can

Adam has been working a ton of hours. That's to be expected at this time of year; it's busy season in the accounting world. Ty and I have been keeping ourselves occupied through the long days any way we can. Some days are more interesting than others!
