Bag Tag

Well, there have been all sorts of blogging "tags" going around. This one was a little different, and quite silly, I thought. But hey, Ty is napping, my house is reasonably clean, and I don't have much on my agenda for today! The rules for bag tag are to get the bag you carry around, empty it and take a picture (no editing here!), and list the contents. This is my glamorous diaper bag that I received from the hospital when Ty was born.

The contents: a changing pad, 3 books, 2 burp cloths, 4 boxes of crayons and a roll of masking tape (from my primary lesson yesterday), wipes, 2 diapers, a baby hairbrush, various toys (several teething rings, a couple rattles, a ball, keys, stuffed rabbit), a pack of gum, a container of Lucky Charms (a sacrament meeting necessity!), a notebook and two pens, ointment, a pair of socks, lip gloss, a handful of change, a bracelet and a necklace (these were deposited there after I got sick of Ty yanking on them).
Thanks Jess, for the excuse to clean out my bag! Only about half of the stuff that came out actually went back in!
I tag Casey, Tami, Heather, Mari, Kim, and anyone else that wants to particpate!!

Walking With Dad

Ty has brought new meaning to the phrase"Hit the ground running." As soon as his feet touch the ground, they are moving. He is trying so hard to walk by himself! He loves to walk around the house holding Mommy or Daddy's hands. Today for the first time, he pulled himself up from lying down to a standing position. He has also started cruising around the furniture over the last couple of weeks. This has resulted in several falls, none of which has been too serious! I definitely think he will be walking before he is a year old.

Happy Easter!

"Treats...Yummy!"

"What am I supposed to do with this basket?"

Our Family

Ty's first Easter!

Just a note:  if it looks like Ty has a little black eye, it's because he does. The truth of the matter is, I have no idea how he got it!  Yesterday I put him in the center of his bedroom with a pile of toys before I got in the shower.  When I got out, he had crawled under his crib (which is the location of our food storage) and pulled out a bunch of jars of food.  He had a big welt under his eye, and I presume he hit it on one of the jars, but I am not totally sure!

A Child After My Own Heart

Ty loves books!  I can not describe how happy this makes me!  Each morning when I take a shower, I put him in the middle of his bedroom floor with a pile of toys.  By the time I am finished, he has without fail abandoned his toys and crawled to one of the bookshelves and pulled out as many books as he can.  Sometimes he still chews on them, but more often than not, I find him actually looking at the pictures.  His favorite book is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. We read that one many, many times each day!  I hope my son always loves good literature!

My New Job

Well, it is crazy, but I have actually started a new job.  I am now officially employed as a newspaper girl!  There are several girls in our ward who have started paper routes around the area, and I decided to jump on board.  It is a perfect way for a stay at home mom to earn a little extra cash without cutting into the time with the kids.  The problem is that you have to report for work at 2:30 AM!!!  It then takes about 3 hours to get all the papers bagged and delivered.  I know it sounds absolutely ridiculous, and really, it is, but the routes pay between $800-1000 a month, and all for just 3 hours a day!  My friend, Wylie, and I decided to split a route, so we will each only do it for two weeks out of the month.  That way, we will each get a break and won't get burned out too soon!  We began our first day today.  It was HYSTERICAL!  I couldn't stop laughing the entire time, probably because I was exhausted.  We went to a warehouse where we bagged our papers with the other workers, most of whom were frumpy-looking old people in sweats and hand-crocheted stocking caps.  Then Wylie and I went to deliver the papers with the man who is giving us his route.  He was very obviously a smoker, and his car smelled strongly of it.  As we drove through the route, I was getting absolutely nauseous.  I was so afraid I was going to puke.  All I could think of was, "Is this really what I went to college for four years for?!"  To top it off, Wylie started crying in the backseat.  She claimed she was just tired, but really, it was a slightly depressing situation.  We survived, and we will be back out again tomorrow!!

No Clothes, Please!

I have been having a serious struggle with Ty and clothes lately.  The two worst times of the whole day are the morning when I dress him and at night when I put his pajamas on.  He doesn't want to hold still for long enough to get dressed!  A couple of nights ago, we were trying to get him ready for a bath.  He was throwing a huge fit, until he got his clothes off.  Then, he was as happy as could be!  He decided to watch the basketball game in his diaper!

Having Fun With Dad

We have had some pretty beautiful days this week.  On Saturday, we took a walk to the park and Adam pushed Ty on the swing, which he loves.  I couldn't help but think that they looked a lot alike in their baseball caps!

Our New Car

We finally have two cars!  We bought a used 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe on Monday.  We have been saving for many months to buy a car.  We have been wanting something with 4WD for when the roads get bad in the winter.  We also really wanted to buy it outright, so we wouldn't have to finance it and make payments.  It took us a while, but we finally did it! Already it has been so nice to have two vehicles.  We feel so blessed!

Ty likes the new car!
